The Core Privacy Guarantee

We never upload your video, audio, or image files to our servers or any third-party cloud. All decoding, trimming, filtering, keyframing, AI captions, and exporting happen 100% locally on your computer via client-side WebAssembly, WebCodecs, and WebGL2.

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

Unlike cloud-based editing platforms, The Free Video Editor is designed with zero-knowledge architecture regarding your content:

  • Your Media Files: We cannot access, view, copy, or store your videos, photos, or voice recordings.
  • Project Content: Timeline assets, subtitles, cuts, project names, and exported videos remain stored solely in your browser's local sandbox (Origin Private File System / IndexedDB).
  • Personal Information: We do not ask for your name, phone number, physical address, or payment details. No account creation is required to use the editor.

2. Client-Side AI & Speech-to-Text Processing

When you generate automatic subtitles or perform motion tracking, our machine learning models (such as Whisper AI) are downloaded directly to your browser's local cache and execute inference on your device's hardware (via WebAssembly or WebGPU). Audio data is never streamed to external AI API servers or voice intelligence providers.

3. Local Storage & Offline Capabilities

To ensure smooth autosaving and instant recovery, The Free Video Editor stores project state using browser-standard local storage technologies:

  • IndexedDB: Stores project timelines, clip arrangements, keyframes, and color grading parameters.
  • Origin Private File System (OPFS): Stores imported media handles and cached waveforms locally on your hard drive.

This data exists solely on your local device. You can purge all stored projects at any time through your browser's "Clear Site Data" settings or within the editor's Project Manager.

4. Analytics and Server Logs

When you visit our marketing pages, our static hosting infrastructure (such as Cloudflare/Vercel) may log standard technical web traffic metadata (such as IP address, browser user-agent, and HTTP request headers) for security, DDoS mitigation, and server performance monitoring. We do not use intrusive cross-site tracking cookies or sell marketing profiles to data brokers.

5. Third-Party Links

Our website may include links to third-party services (such as GitHub or open-source repositories). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external platforms, and we encourage you to review their respective policies.

6. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect architectural enhancements or new browser API standards. Any updates will be posted to this page with an updated "Last Updated" timestamp.
